NaBloPoMo and the discipline of daily blogging...

Have you ever set a goal to do something consistent for 30 simultaneous days? How'd it turn out for you? I ask because I've set a few brand new goals for November that involve a lot of commitment to simultaneous activity. And in spite of these varied commitments, I don't know if I've ever set a goal of doing any single thing for 30 days in a row, much less 3 different things! Never mind. When you decide to turn over new leaves, maybe just going all out is the way to go.

NaBloPoMo has been on my radar for a while, but this is the first time I've ever decided to participate. NaBlo who? National Blog Posting Month invites us to post something every day for a month. That's "all" we have to do. Okay then! I'll do it!

Having been a blogger for years, I know what I'm getting myself into. I know my inner spoiled brat is going to wake up one day - probably Wednesday - and object to the rigorous schedule. And by rigorous I don't mean that blogging is necessarily so. Only that doing anything because I said I would and therefore because I have to, rather than because I just feel like it... well, that just automatically tweaks with my sense of balance and perspective. I know I'm going to have a list of topics and none of them will make me happy when it comes time to do the actual work of writing. I know it's going to feel like I'm writing drivel. Never mind all that. I'm doing it anyway.

Since I have two blogs, I had the choice of registering either one for the challenge. I chose this one because it's a brand new site. Why not use my focus and energy to build up some content - and maybe even traffic - to my new one?! Plus, I've got an entirely different kind of thing going on that I can blog about over there. Things. Whatever. You can read about some of them here.

If you're another blogger who's taking the NaBloPoMo challenge, I'd love to hear from you! Have you ever taken this challenge before? Did you complete the month? Was it hard? But rewarding? Inquiring minds want to know.

Meanwhile, if you're not a blogger, you should feel free to say hello too! We love all kinds of commenters over here!

Happy November, y'all! See you soon. Like, y'know, tomorrow...
