It's been "official" for a while, but somehow it feels more so now that the postcards came back from the printer's yesterday. Therefore I'm thrilled to announce that I was invited to participate in a group show at the Marshall Art Gallery. The exhibit, entitled "Clay and Glass II," opens August 2nd and runs through September 3. The opening reception coordinates with their First Thursday, from 6-9 on August 2, 2007.
The last time my art was at the Marshall Gallery I wasn't even designing jewelry yet. You might say it's been a while. The work I sold there, then, was a sort of precursor to what I do now. Then I made clay wall tiles with lots of color and texture, that were connected to each other with copper wire, embellished with beads, and hung from copper tubes. Sound familiar? (Okay, it's true my jewelry doesn't have copper tubing, but otherwise there's a lot of similarity! Although some beads are tubes...) In fact, that's how I started "playing" with beads in the first place!
Artists participating in this show, along with the medium in which they're exhibiting, are:
- Dawn Ashby - Mosaic
- Cindy Cage - Stained Glass
- Karen Lewit - Fused Glass
- Molly Lithgo - Clay
- Paul Nixon - Stained Glass
- Courtney Tomchik - Raku
- Melody Watson - Clay Jewelry
They are opened Monday - Saturday from 10-6.
