My office for the next two weeks

It's been a while since I agreed to house-and-pet-sit for any length of time. But I said yes this time. I love this home, the pets are sweet, their people are kind and have exceptional senses of humor... I love variety: these are among the reasons I decided to come here again.

This is where I've been working for the last couple of days. The sun reflected off the lake, creating near perfection. But I needed some filters. And some grunge. Thank you to my dear friend Photoshop.

As anticipated, it has begun well. Of course I have lofty goals. Not only did I bring my technology for work, but there's also a camera, art paper and colored pencils. No easel or paints as when I was here last summer, though. Nor beading supplies, about which I now feel mildly wistful. But there's time enough for that, and experience reminds me that the time will fly and I'd have to pack it all back up and haul it away at the end of the month, anyway. It's enough. More than enough.

It feels important to remind myself - frequently - of the value of new perspectives.

Being in other people's spaces helps with that. This gorgeous, crisp weather of my favorite season doesn't hurt, either.

Here's to the kind of creativity and productivity I'm envisioning as another October plays itself out. (For you too!) And lots more lunch dates and catching up with friends while I'm in the neighborhood, too...
