Laundry, party prep, beading & who knows...

It's overcast in The Triad this morning, and as roomie was leaving, she mentioned strong thunderstorms today. Ugh. I don't have time for thunderstorms. I've got a beading party to get ready for! (The exclamation mark is misleading. I'm dragging this morning. Trying to convince myself otherwise. Maybe writing this will help. It didn't; I'm writing this after the fact and thought I'd save you the letdown. But if you read to the end, you'll learn about my fun new idea I just came up with!)

Tonight's soiree will have four guests. I'm looking forward to the mix of people. As always. I'm trying something new: at least one woman coming tonight is sometimes overwhelmed with the range of choices from which to choose when it comes time to make her necklace. (I gots me a whole bunch o' beads.) So I'm going to prepackage some beads I might personally work with. In various color choices. Spring colors, of course! Then she'll have a starting point, if she decides to use my recommended offerings.

Meanwhile, there's still laundry to be done, a couple of errands to be run, and some website work. Frankly I'm not in the mood for that. I want to run the vacuum, do the dishes and web work, and sit down with my beads all day long.  Actually, that's a big fat lie: I want to sit down with my beads, and skip all things domestic, altogether. A little ambivalent about website work too. Unacceptable. You can't have people coming into your house when you've put off the tidying. Never mind the other adult decisions dealing with productivity that have to be made in a minute. (If I keep writing long enough, see, I won't have to get started on the stuff I'm putting off. Did you notice that?)

This is going to be great prep for next weekend. I'm working on new designs for the festival, as I've announced, and hopefully this "burst of creativity" will serve me well in my own designs. If not, the beading party on Thursday night will! 'Cause I've scheduled two in the same week!

Just had an idea: maybe I'll start taking photos of the necklaces people make at my beading parties, and put them in a photo gallery online for you to see! Why didn't I think of it sooner? Oh well: we'll start tonight! So check back for pictures - sometime. And have a great Monday! Even if it does rain and storm and make you wish you'd had two extra hours of sleep - like I do.

I would be the guest for tonight's festivity who cannot possibly make one necklace from all the choices provided by our gracious hostess. The last time I joined one of her delightful beading parties, I spent the time eating cookies and admiring the work of the other, less overwhelmed guests who all made gorgeous necklaces/earrings/braclets. Yes, too many choices can cause creativity overload.

Being the ever accomodating hostess, Melody is good enough to prepackage beads for me so I won't have to decide totally for myself. And what of the beads I don't choose? Can I stand to hurt their feelings, making them believe that they are not worthy? No, I cannot. Melody can hurt their feelings and then make up to them later.

I will pick pre-chosen beads and make a beautiful necklace to match my spring colors of choice this year - red and pink and black - although maybe not all in one necklace. Unless Melody says it's okay. Then all the colors will coexist peacefully and joyfully!

Snort. Then red and pink and black it shall be. If we put them together all in one necklace and they look horrid, then we'll hurt their little feelings and take them all apart and start over. I can't see it now, but do have faith in the process: we can always make it work...no matter what color combination! And, as promised, there will be pictures later to show. Stay tuned...this one is gonna' be excellent!
