New Feet!
Melody | Thursday, 23 February, 2006 at 8:21 AM We have a new baby in the family! Rami, my new nephew, was born yesterday evening and is, of course, the most precious baby who ever breathed air. People always want to know the stats so here's that: he weighed 7lbs 9oz and was 21 inches long. Among the longest days I've experienced, it was also, naturally, one of the finest, too.
It must be said that Tami, The Greatest Nurse Who Walks the Face of the Earth, was given a raise by my family's unanimous declaration. Too bad we don't carry any weight in that matter. There will be a special place in heaven for people that kind, and patient, and genuinely caring.
The "New Feet!" title is in honor of my sister's such declaration, several years ago. While, visiting a friend and her own newborn in the hospital, Joy held up his little foot and declared those words with perfect glee. And we all thought for a minute about how those feet have never touched the ground, or anything besides a blankie, for that matter. I will always hear my sister's voice and think "New Feet!" as one of the happiest statements.
I'm not posting photos today and don't know if I will. Not being my baby you'll understand why this level of disclosure on the world wide web is already a lot for new baby's family who aren't as into putting everything on their minds front and center for all the world to see. But as of this writing, know that everyone is doing well.
Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers and well wishes we've received. There is now one more new baby on earth who will never have a doubt that he is loved.
