Why they're called power naps...

At roughly 4:45, I gave in to what felt like the most decadent urge of them all. A Nap in the Middle of the Day. Getting myself to a place in which I would actually allow me to climb into bed (which would require removing contacts first,) and close my eyes with the simple intention of keeping them closed for an hour or two, was quite the hurdle indeed.

But I had no other choice. You read that last entry. We were talking dire straits here. That's not ME!!! I'm not one of those people who snaps at people and growls at the idea of getting fresh air and taking a nice break for herself! I'm what my Dad calls an incurable optimist! He's talking about himself, of course, but hey, it's a nice label, and I don't think he'll mind if I appropriate it for my own use and enjoyment.

Much like I stole that nap just now. And I am not making this up. Roughly twenty minutes later I opened my eyes realizing it MUST have been an hour or more since I'd closed them. Fresh. That's the way I felt. And rested. Comfy. And cozy. Not a grouch in sight.

Excuse me??? It's not even 5:30???

Ladies and Gentlemen. Let me introduce you to the newest craze to hit Melody's Self Employment Tool Box. Next time I even feel a smidge of irritation coming on, I'm taking a nap. Don't even fool yourself into thinking I'm kidding here...

Now, back to work. I think I'd better fold that laundry, then I have a glorious idea for the website I woke up thinking about. Let's try it out and see how it works, why don't we??? Ta Ta!

I think I read somewhere that a mere 15 minutes of napping is better than two or even three hours of nap time. I dunno, maybe those brainiacs at Harvard came up with this? Anyway, don't feel guilty for taking a mid-day disco nap. Didn't you feel better afterward? Ahhhhhh.....

Apparently it WAS! 'Cause it worked beautifully. I say the guilt is all gone. Even the chocolate Dena suggested (yep, I tried a bit of that, too, although perhaps not enough?) didn't do for me what that nap did. Unbelievable! And now highly recommended to everyone I meet. Who knew?
