When I started putting advertising on my sites...

...to help cover the cost of maintaining them, I was assured that for the most part the ads would be targeted by topic. 'Cause nobody makes money if you write about truck driving schools and the ads are all about the best catfood money can buy. Likewise, nobody makes any money if your site's content usually deals with high-tech gadgets but your ads are about those really cool-feeling, brightly colored gardening gloves that are all the rage.

And for the most part they were right.

Then again, there are moments - like now - when I write about something fairly benign - like dancing with this cool kid - and suddenly I see an ad about a place where you can go to take pole dancing lessons for fun and fitness.

Excuse me? I guess they can't get everyone perfect, but I have to say I wasn't expecting that one!
