Thriving in a house of colors
Thursday, 1 July, 2010 at 10:43 AM
Before my friend left town, we ran through some of her regular routine. I've snuck away for a week+ of solitude in her home and so I'm also caring for that home while she and her family are away. Not to mention her babies - aka: anything that grows in dirt, plus her adorable pet. (Likely featured in a different post soon.)
Standing right about where I stood to shoot the above photo, she said to me, "I don't care if the house burns down. But my plants? Yea, they need to stay alive." No pressure there.
As you see, they're still alive. And even without rain!

This is the most colorful home I have ever spent time in. Everywhere you turn are splashes of color. Vivid, vivacious, lush. It's hard not to be filled with gratitude when surrounded by so much color. And life. Never mind how much fresh pesto I've already consumed this week. (And by the looks of it, I know what I'm having again later today, too, eh?)
Happy Thursday to you!

That looks beautiful!! Can you teach me how to do that?
Looks like a great place to be!
Katie, how to do what? Keep plants alive? I think we both know step one starts with somebody else getting them going. I have killed everything I've begun on my own for a couple of years now. Something about the travel. My plants don't like all the moving around. But back when I wasn't so vagabondish, friend whose gorgeousness you've witnessed came up and did a number on my yard. Hmm! Maybe we can get her back to Greensboro for you!
Cindi, it is the PERFECT place to be. Thank you very much! ;)
I missed this somehow! Great picture of the lovely deck and backyard. Looks like a vacation, though, I know you're working like a fiend and we all appreciate that! :):)
Thanks, Karen. ;) Vacation AND a working fiend! The perfect combo...
