Just fell in love with a Jeanette LeBlanc photo

I. Cannot. Stop. Looking. At. This. Photo. And it's not because there's rain pouring down in front of me, outside the window I look out while working. Nor is it because I sometimes ask myself "What if I'd pursued that dream of becoming a photographer myself?" It's simply a remarkable shot. It's the work of a photographer I just discovered a few minutes ago. Jeanette LeBlanc is a Phoenix-based photographer whose work I am now officially in love with. This is the shot that did it for me.

The color and the texture and the balance of this photo make me wish I'd taken it. We can't see the little girl's face and it doesn't matter. Her stance, the tilt of her head, the way she holds her arms...it's enough. You know it's her favorite skirt and she loves that she got to have a professional photographer capture her wearing it.

OH this photo! Hope you enjoy it, too. Okay. Enough. I've seen others from Jeanette LeBlanc's portfolio - spent a little time there before I decided to blog about this shot - and now I've had to bookmark her blog so I can come back and read more later. Can't just sit here all day, can I? (Work, woman! It's the voice in my head.) But if I could, this is the site I'd be pouring over. So ya' know...

Okay, I'm breaking my own rule: I have already published this blog post and I'm back here, adding to it. Just got sucked into reading Jeanette LeBlanc's "About" page. Here's a snippet:

My photography is about capturing your child spinning in circles till she falls to the ground. It’s catching your son sitting quietly engrossed in a picture book. It’s those first days of life when your baby is so fresh and new. It’s about gleeful laughter and fits of giggles and tantrums and tears. It’s about the light that gleams in her eyes when she’s thinking of something funny, and about the way he sticks out his tongue in concentration when he’s working on building the highest tower. It’s about the love that flows between you all.

No wonder I fell in love with this shot. This is what photography is supposed to be about! Okay. Enough. Happy, happy bookmarks. What did we do without 'em?

;) It IS, isn't it? I keep going back to look at it. Haven't checked to see if it's for sale. Can you picture a really large, art-quality, framed version? I'd love to look at this on the wall in my home. Hmm.

Wow! I am incredibly flattered and have this sense that I should be saying "I'm not worthy" or something to that effect. Seriously - this is on of my favorite photos (of my oldest daughter near the beach in Nova Scotia) and you have made my new years day. Thank you for your kind words.
