Happy New Year! Here's to The Ultimate Do-Over...

The last week of the year has always been among my favorites. I tend to go a bit underground, taking fewer phone calls, postponing the emails, doing less business. It's my time for reflection and "me time" and some planning for what comes next. All the wrap-ups and fresh starts resonate with me. I love "clean slates," "blank pages," and "new chapters," along with all that entails:

Possibility. Mystery. Open Roads.

All of these appeal to me like the early morning view of a pristine cover of snow. Unencumbered by faulty starts, the new year lets us pretend that the baggage from last year is tidily behind us. For a while anyway...

It seems to me we get to choose how much of it we bring along with us. And we get to choose how many of those resolutions or goals we meet.

Naturally, every day gives us a do-over. Every hour, really. But to me the Ultimate Do-Over is a brand, spankin' new year.

My website got a facelift for 2011. This is my first 2011 blog post, just minutes after I pulled the plug on my old design. If you see any broken links or wonky alignment, please give me a call or drop me a line. I'll appreciate your letting me know. Either way, I suspect there will be some tweaks here and there, as I get used to the new layout and decide what else I want to change. Because change is in the air.

Happy New Year to you. I hope 2011 is your best year ever. I hope it's the best yet for all of us...
