Grilled cheese never called my name any louder...

There's a proud little snippet of conversation in my memory banks. From when I was dating the chef and I was semi-complaining that I never got to cook anymore. He responded, "Well, didn't you admit to me that you burned the last grilled cheese sandwich you made?" And so I did. But that was a specific sort of distracted day. And that's why they make Adderall, see...
Grilled cheese sandwiches aren't indulgences I'm allowing myself too many of these days, but the last time I made one, I used havarti and pumpernickel. And it was YumMY!!!
Today I've stumbled across a little gem that makes me giggle at the exciting things you can find when you're peeking around the 'net. From a fun blog called "To be Mrs. Marv" comes this little gem: Grilled Cheese Manifesto. And check out just some of the variations she shares:
- Farmer, Blue Cheese, Basil & Red Wine, Balsamic Vinegar Reduction
- Cheddar, Chevre & Salsa on Sourdough
- Cheddar & Romano on Caraway Rye with Mustard
- Gruyere with Bacon, Green Onions & Tobasco on Sourdough
With recipes and photos to show me what the end result should look like if done properly, how can I resist but try some of these? They're way more interesting than any grilled cheese I ever made myself. Including the ones I didn't burn!

I LIVE for gourmet grilled cheese. I'll take it over a fancy dish any day of the week. Throw in some tomato soup and I'm willing to break some laws.
Still haven't had any, since writing this. You're so right about tomato soup: what a great companion taste!
