ConvergeSouth 2008 & BlogHer Greensboro - Two for one, babies...

Have you ever anticipated something for years then when it finally happened, it was exactly the way you knew it would be? Have you ever shown up and it was nothing at all like you imagined it to be? Because I've been intrigued by the Oh So Near presence of ConvergeSouth since its inception, but never attended, this event has become That Imagined, Anticipated Event. I only have to wait 6 weeks to find out if it will live up to my expectations. Because?

(Cue a little introduction music here please.) This year I'm going!  Registered Monday night for ConvergeSouth 2008! Very happy about it. (All those exclamation marks prolly didn't clue you in, right?)

Last year the event was billed "a combination of blogger-con and creativity center" and this year on "multimedia and journalism creativity for everyone." Read more on their About page.

But wait. It gets better! Ever hear of BlogHer? It's the blogging community for women - you knew that, right? The idea of their conferences have made me drool from afar for years. If I haven't been able to make it to ConvergeSouth before, when it was right here in Greensboro, you'd better believe I've missed BlogHer too.

***See note at bottom re change in plans.*** But not anymore! This year BlogHer has added the Reach Out Tour '08, and for 2 weeks will be hitting 6 heavy blogging cities. Guess who lives in one of 'em? More specifically, guess who lives in Possibly The Least Predictable One Of Em? (With stops in Boston, DC, Nashville, Atlanta and New Orleans, you can understand why everybody I've mentioned it to, so far, is surprised they're also coming to Greensboro. How handy!) In their own words:
It's no accident that BlogHer GREENSBORO takes place right on the heels of ConvergeSouth in the same conference location...so if you're planning to head to Greensboro that weekend, why not attend both conferences?
Both conferences are being held at NC A&T State University which has been the perfect setting, everyone seems to agree. I for one am thrilled to finally go find out for myself.

Stay tuned for a follow-up post on why, exactly, I'm so excited to go to these conventions. Maybe it's a no-brainer to other blogger-types, but "my peeps" who don't blog are giving me serious fodder for a FAQ. It'll be good for me to articulate it here, though - identify my goals for each conference - so thanks for the questions.

Maybe I'll see you there!
