Cavender's Greek Seasoning on my chicken

In case you've been looking for a quick, easy way to spice up your chicken I found one today. Thought I'd share.

Recently, a friend brought me a bottle of Cavender's Greek Seasoning. Having bought an extra for herself, not realizing she already had a brand new container, she decided to pass along the yummy goodness. Seems a friend of hers uses it on everything he makes. E v e r y t h i n g. Recommendations like that always pique my interest.

So today when I decided to bake some chicken - not just for lunch, but just to have some leftovers in the fridge for when I'm not in the mood to cook (which is most of the time these days,) - I remembered that it was in the cabinet.

Didn't really pay attention to anything on the label, or even consult a recipe. I was in a hurry to get back to these endless upgrades to my site's design, and again not really in the mood to cook. So I:

  • preheated the oven to 350 (I think it was,)
  • poured about a tablespoon of olive oil into the bottom of a Pyrex dish,
  • sprinkled in the Cavender's,
  • stirred it up to make a sort of paste,
  • laid two honkin' pieces of chicken in the pan,
  • covered the whole business with foil,
  • and shortly afterward, popped the pan into the oven.
Then I set a timer for 20 and 10 minute increments, and checked on it until it was done. After about 30 minutes, I turned the chicken over and popped it back into the oven.

If I were paying better attention today, and/or had I realized I would be blogging about simple chicken yumminess, I might have recorded how long it actually took. I'm sure you can look that up in an actual cooking resource. What you get from me that you might not have gotten elsewhere is the recommendation of a new splash of flavor to your food when you're also not really in the mood to put forth that much effort, but want to eat something a little out of the ordinary.

Next time I'll actually either sprinkle the seasoning onto the chicken, or brush the infused oil onto the bird. But for the first time? Yea, I'm happy with it!
