Awesome find when trying to "find" a client's lost Squarespace login
Thursday, 5 March, 2009 at 12:49 PM This will really only matter to my readers who use (or are considering using) Squarespace. But I have enough of those, and the find was just so very handy, that I'm going to tell you about it, anyway!
One of my new clients "lost" the link that lets him log in to his website. I've seen this happen before. In fact, a couple of years ago, I lost my own login link! It worked out fine, as in my own case the url was safely captured in my browser's history and I was able to get back in pretty quickly. But with my new client, it took a smidge longer. I had a tiny little brain glitch and could not, for the life of me, recall the "display/login" part of the address.
Not to worry. These days, Squarespace has a thriving developer community. I've often found the information I'm looking for, there, just by searching related keywords. And I'm rarely the first person who's faced the challenge that led me to the forum. Just like this time!
Not ony did I find the answer to my question, but I found something better. I learned that if you're on a Squarespace-based website and want to go to the login page, all you have to do is hit the "escape" key and you'll be directed there. Since learning this, I've barely clicked on a "login" link at all! How I Love A Good Shortcut...
Meanwhile I'm thinking about the Squarespace Developer Forum and looking forward to the day when I'll feel I know enough that I can provide others there with the kind of helpful information so many of the other participants offer every day. It's such a fabulous forum, and a community I want to be a real part of. Reason 743 I've been making plans to go away for a while - so I can work more hours, and study more, and just get way, way better at what it is I do...

Great blog post....
Thank you!
Melody, finally another person who uses the word "smidge". My husband told me I'm the only person on the planet (not that he's met every person) who uses the word "smidge" or "smidgen". Now I can tell him there are two of us. See we are (in the words of Anne of Green Gabels) "soul mates".
One day recently I was trying to remember why/when/how I started saying "smidge" but I couldn't. I think I say it a lot. I love the idea of soul mates.
not so great if your readers expand a video to full screen then hit escape to exit and view more of your
site.
they will get a confusing login request
and according to support there is no way around this
