This is what I'm reading now. Although not too far along - only in the first few chapters, in fact - I've been meaning to read Allende for quite a while. Housemate/friend has this one on hand so it seemed a great place to start. So far, no regrets on my choice!
2008 reads
People who keep lists of the books they've read inspire me. I've never done that...never even attempted. Since this idea crossed my mind at the beginning of a fresh, new year, I decided to start a list, and keep it here on my site. We'll see how it goes! (January 11, 2008)
Okay, this may have been a bad idea. While I've read several books this year - not gobs and gobs of books, but far more than I've written about here - I've either not had/taken the time to share the titles, or have even been disinclined to publicly write about those books. Hm. I'll leave this up here and see if I have a change of heart about keeping a list, after all, but for now? Not gonna' update this page. (May 08)

Another book I read the last week of '07, but I may have finished it this year, so it made the list too!
Love, loved this novel. Fairly different than Eat, Pray, Love - seeing as how the aforementioned was memoir and Stern Men is a novel, and all - this still brings the appealing writing style I fell in love reading the book that put Elizabeth Gilbert on my radar.

Officially this should go on another list. Pre '08 Reads, perhaps. Never mind. I read this the day after Christmas '07, so that's close enough. Although I'm not "way into poetry" I go through phases, and this one really captured my attention. In fact, so much I blogged about it over here.
If you're looking for something accessible, by a poet who "seems more like a regular guy" than a stereotypical poet, I highly recommend this collection.
